Waterville Valley Elementary School Parent Student Handbook
Parent/Student Handbook Table of Contents
Parent/Student Handbook
September, 2010
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year. We are all looking forward to another great year together.
Please take time to review this handbook with your child and keep it on hand to refer to throughout the school year. Many of your questions will probably be answered by using this handbook and consulting your Communication Line which can be found on our website: www.wves.sau48.org each Friday and will be posted in our lobby. If you have any questions regarding the handbook, please do not hesitate to ask me. If any information pertaining to you is inaccurate, please notify our secretary.
There are so many opportunities to get involved with your child’s education and we welcome whatever support you are able to give us. Parents are needed as reading volunteers in K-2, as library volunteers, as field trip and winter program chaperones, for fundraisers, and with Community of Caring activities. These activities include the Thanksgiving food drive, Heifer International and the annual Waterville Valley community clean-up.
In addition to the many activities at Waterville Valley Elementary, parents play a critical role in the educational partnership. Attendance everyday is very important and should be the goal of every parent. Our program is interactive and is best delivered by the teacher to the students in class. Coming to school on time with homework completed and with all books, materials, lunch, and clothing for the day assures your child is ready to learn. This makes all the difference in the job we are able to do once your child arrives.
We are most appreciative of how enthusiastically you embrace this responsibility
So, as we begin our new year, let us go forward and share the learning experiences and, together, celebrate the children’s successes as well as problem-solve any difficulties we may encounter. Let us enjoy this special time in their lives!
Again, please take the time to read this handbook with your child and then sign the required yellow form at the beginning of the handbook and return it to the office.
Sincerely,
M. Gail Hannigan, Principal
Waterville Valley Elementary School
