Volunteer Opportunities
WVES has a long history of parent participation in school life. While you no longer have to haul your children on horseback miles uphill through the snow each day, there are lots of ways you can help out.
Homework Club The WVES PTA supports the school by providing a volunteer each weekday afternoon to staff Homework Club. Homework Club is a great opportunity for the kids to get a headstart on their homework each day before heading home, off on a play date, or over to the WV Rec Department for After-School Antics.
Pizza Fridays WVES is extremely fortunate to have pizzas donated each week by the great people at Olde Waterville Pizza Company in Town Square. The PTA supports this event with rotating volunteers who pick up the pizzas at the restaurant, bring them to school, and serve them to the kids. One person can easily to it, but it's more fun with two. Total time commitment is about an hour. Please see the sign-up sheet in the school lobby or contact a PTA officer.
Bake Sales The WVES PTA holds a number of bake sales throughout the year, with several key events coinciding with big vacation weeks. Plan ahead for Columbus Day weekend, Massachusetts Vacation Week, etc. Bake your best goodies, pack them up in attractive packaging, and, if you can, man the bake-sale table for a shift or two.
Physical Education Chaperones Parents support our outstanding Physical Education curriculum by serving as chaperones for PE biking sessions in the fall and ski/snowboarding in the winter. In addition, help lacing skates is always appreciated before PE ice-skating sessions at the WV Ice Arena.
Raffles The WVES PTA sponsors several raffles during the school year, including a big push during Columbus Weekend (prize has historically been a season's pass to Waterville Valley, generously provided by the resort), and a deluxe amenities basket during Massachusetts Vacation Week. Each student is strongly encouraged to participate in raffle ticket sales.
Volunteer of the Month
The school has a wonderful tradition of honoring parent contributions each month during Morning Meeting by highlighting a Volunteer of the Month.
